Expand Your Capacity to Love

Did you know that you could be the only demonstration of love in this world someone will ever see or receive? Just imagine how your acts of kindness or touch could very well be a turning point in their lives to walk in a new direction. The way we (the church) demonstrate our love for Christ, significantly distinguishes us from the world. Matt. 22:37-39 (KJV) 37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38.This is the first and greatest commandment. 39.And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Loving others is not always easy because it requires us to extend ourselves beyond our comfort zones; love is merciful, forgiving, kind and sacrificial. It is risky business and many times leaves us feeling vulnerable, uncomfortable and we do it without thought or reason. Christ served as the perfect example when He demonstrated His “dirty love” for us by dying on the cross; so how much more are we? We have a “world call” to show love; our mission is to declare the gospel and to proclaim Jesus Christ. Allow God to expand your capacity to love so that you and others can start to live again as you continue advancing the Kingdom of God! It's the only way!

Demonstrating 'His' Love

God requires us to always demonstrate ‘His love’ to everyone regardless of how others may treat us; for it’s the only way the world will know Christ abides in us. As His representatives on earth, our behaviors and conduct must reflect the love of Jesus at all times, in all we say and do. It is even more important as we do ministry in all aspects. Remember first and foremost God already placed the essential gifts within us; we are well equipped for our earthly assignments to do ‘good works.’ He multiplied the 'seed' He placed inside of us before it is given; as we willingly and cheerfully yield ourselves to be vessels to extend His love to others throughout the world, an abundance of His blessings will be manifested. Spreading the love of Jesus is so powerful!

When we operate with His love in our hearts, He ‘graces us’ with the ability to touch lives in a magnificent way. His love has the ability to transform lives, restore the lost, uplift the downtrodden, destroy yokes; it can shift the course of direction in one's life that has taken a wrong turn, break generational curses and counteract any negative situations that avert His Sovereign plans for your life.

The Love of God

As, believers, our foundation should be the love of God. According to Matthew 22:37-40, the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God. The way to do this, is by loving Him through your heart, soul, and mind. The second commandment is to love your neighbor, as yourself. Contrary to what many people believe, Jesus did not say loving yourself was a prerequisite to loving your neighbor.

The love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, thus we have the ability to love. God has commanded us from the beginning to love one another, since it is the consummate expression of His Kingdom and the avenue by which men will be drawn unto Him. Once you are secure in the love of God, you will be able to move in His love without reservation or hesitation. You will be filled with the fullness of God, as His love brings satisfaction to your existence.

His Agape Love

Throughout the history of the bible, you will find many examples of God displaying unconditional love for His children despite man’s repeated disobedience. From the beginning of time, God never failed to let His ‘agape love’ reign supreme. It was demonstrated in even greater dimensions than we could ever comprehend when He sacrificed His only begotten Son. His love is and has always been eternal; transcending the tides of time, and still it exists today in overwhelmingly measures! It’s not based on merit, nor is it reserved for the elitist. The richest person in the world can’t buy it, and regardless of one’s political savvy it cannot be manipulated. His love is so incredible and there is no love in comparison like that of Our Heavenly Father.

Even when we willingly and carelessly veer off the straight and narrow path of righteousness, God embraces us with open, outstretched arms and restores us completely when we repent! He then commands us to love each other as He has loves us and bearing one another’s faults in love. This is His Will and the only sure way to make a difference in the world today. Become a ‘love bearer’ for His Kingdom!
