The Word of God is clear about the believer’s responsibility to give tithes and offering. Mal 3:10-11 instructs us to “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in My temple…I will open the windows of Heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put Me to the test! Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe…” (NLT). The definition of tithe is to give a tenth part of one’s income. The tithe was first mentioned in the book of Genesis when Abram presented a tithe to King Melchizedek, from the spoil he gathered in his victory against King Chedorlaomer and the other kings who were with him (Gen 14:16-20). In return, the Lord blessed Abram, “in all things” (Gen 24:1). He was not only made wealthy, but God graced him to become the father of many nations and made his name great in the earth.
An offering takes our giving a step further because it is a sacrifice (the tithe already belongs to God). We present our offering as an act of worship and devotion to God. It demonstrates our readiness and willingness to make our resources available for His kingdom agenda. We ought to give liberally, without fear or reservation. Inspite of the economy or our salary, we can rest assured God is our source. “The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness of it, the world and they who dwell in it” (Ps 24:1). An offering shifts us from the mediocre to living in the overflow. It opens up the channels for us to receive God’s bountiful blessings. There must be a release from our hand in order for us to reap a harvest. Give freely and confidently because your giving ultimately determines your level of living!

Pray over your seed and expect an abundant harvest! Know that your seed is being sown into good ground and will be used to teach the Word with simplicity and understanding throughout the world
